• Dynamic flexion abduction orthosis is used to treat DDH in infants up to 6 months of age.
• Harness usually leads to stability of reduced hip within 4 wks.
• but its use should be continued until a clinical exam & X-rays of the hip are normal.
• DDH-Developmental dislocation of the hip.
• DDH involves displacement of the femoral head from the acetabulum (during the perinatal period) which disrupts the normal development of the hip joint.
• DDH is estimated to occur in 1 – 1.5 cases per 1000 live births.)
